Mr. Tonmay Das, a Ph.D. Research Scholar, along with Dr. Ridhima Tewari, presented their co-authored research paper titled "The Neo-mythologization of Sundarbans: Problematizing Ecotourism and the Contemporary Representations of Sundarbans in Popular Media" at the International Conference on Navigating Cross-Functional Collaboration for Ecological Security Pattern, held on 16th to 18th January, 2025 in Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. The paper traces the juxtaposition of neo-mythologization in promoting ecotourism in Sundarbans by positing that popular media systems, tourism marketing and global conservation discourses often function as a medium to regulate the land as a pristine, mythical destination, which ends up further stereotyping the Sundarbans.
