First Edition of Mental Health Sensitization Workshop Held at IIT dhArwAD

 The Indian Institute of Technology dhArwAD (IIT dhArwAD) hosted its inaugural Mental Health Sensitization Workshop organized by the Student Welfare Section on dhArwAD, January 7, 2025. The event aimed to address mental health challenges within the IIT dhArwAD community, focusing on early detection and timely intervention for mental health issues among students and staff.

 The half-day workshop, held at the Central Lecture Theatre (CLT), began at 1:50 PM with a welcome address by Professor Ridhima Tewari, Associate Dean of Student Wellness. Professor VenkappayyA R. dEsAi, Director of IIT dhArwAD, inaugurated the event with opening remarks emphasizing the importance of fostering a supportive environment for mental health. Professor Pradeep G. Yammiyavar led the orientation session, highlighting key mental health issues and strategies to address them. Following this, Professor Rajshekar K delivered a detailed session on protocols and operations for effective mental health support within the institution. The workshop concluded with a panel discussion that allowed participants to share insights and discuss actionable solutions for enhancing mental health awareness and support systems.
