On November 7, 2025, the Department of HEART, IIT Dharwad, was honoured to host Prof. Sathyaraj Venkatesan – Professor of English, NIT Trichy, for a highly engaging and insightful lecture on “Research to Publication: Writing for WoS and Scopus Journals.”
Prof. Venkatesan is a distinguished scholar and prolific academic, widely recognised for his pioneering work in Health Humanities, particularly at the intersection of comics and medicine. His academic career includes more than ten books and over 130 research publications, as well as prestigious fellowships and awards from renowned institutions such as Cornell University, USA.
In his lecture, Prof. Venkatesan shared his valuable insights and experience into the intricacies of academic writing and publishing. His lectures provided valuable guidance for participants in crafting impactful research papers for prestigious journals, such as those indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. He emphasised the importance of thorough planning and critical thinking in academic writing, encouraging scholars to view publications not as an endpoint, but as an ongoing dialogue within the academic community. The session equipped participants, particularly doctoral students, with practical strategies to strengthen their writing skills and refine their arguments with brevity.
