Prof. Somashekara M A was honoured to deliver an invited talk at the Two-Day International Conference on “Pharma Excellence 2025 – Bridging Academia, Industry and Technology for a Healthier Future”, held on 5–6 December 2025 at the Biotechnology Auditorium, KLE Technological University - Hubballi (India) Campus, Hubballi, Karnataka.

The talk explored how Additive Manufacturing (AM) and 4D Printing are redefining pharmaceutical manufacturing—from one-size-fits-all medicines to personalized, intelligent, and patient-specific drug delivery systems. Topics included multi-drug polypills, geometry-driven drug release, 4D smart materials, microneedle-based transdermal delivery, and emerging regulatory pathways.

The engaging discussions reaffirmed that Pharmacy 4.0 will be driven by the convergence of materials science, digital design, AI, and advanced manufacturing. India, with its strong pharma ecosystem and engineering talent, has a unique opportunity to lead this transformation.
