Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Dharwad Visits the Institute (4-5 June 2026)

Dr. Sharad Kumar Saraf, Chairman, Board of Governors (BoG), IIT Dharwad, visited the Institute on 4-5 June 2026 along with distinguished guests, including Prof. Ashok Mishra (President, IIT Alumni Centre, Bengaluru, and Former Director, IIT Bombay), Dr. Ashok Kamath (Secretary, IIT Alumni Centre, Bengaluru, and Director, ACSEL Technology Forum-Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence), Prof. S. S. Murthy (BoG Member, IIT Dharwad, and Former Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Delhi), Prof. Bhavin Kothari (Senior Faculty, National Institute of Design and BoG Member, IIT Dharwad), Dr. Ashok Pratap Singh (Member, Board of Trustees, Modern Schools, Delhi), and Mr. Shankar Jadhav (Director, Technocraft Industries).

During their visit, the Chairman and the guests toured various departments, research laboratories, facilities, and ongoing development projects at the Institute. They also visited the Dharwad Research and Technology Incubator Foundation (dhaRti) BioNEST Incubation Centre and interacted with startup founders working in diverse areas of innovation and entrepreneurship.

The delegation met with the Institute leadership, including the Deans, Associate Deans, Heads of Departments and Centres, Registrar, Deputy Registrar, and Assistant Registrars. They reviewed the Institute's progress in academics, research, infrastructure development, student affairs, and outreach activities.

The guests appreciated the efforts of the IIT Dharwad community and provided valuable suggestions for further strengthening academic excellence, research and innovation, alumni engagement, industry collaborations, outreach initiatives, and administrative processes.

The delegation also visited the Garag Kshetriya Seva Sangha, located near IIT Dharwad, which is renowned for holding the official license to hand-weave India's National Flag using traditional khadi. The guests appreciated the organization's efforts in preserving this unique national heritage.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity for discussions on the future growth of the Institute and reaffirmed IIT Dharwad’s commitment to excellence in education, research, innovation, and societal impact.
